**a custom, lightweight home screen replacement for Kindles.**

## About
Nomi is a small project that replaces the stock Kindle UI on jailbroken devices.
It's meant to be simple, open, and fast - a launcher that gives you control over your device without the ads, clutter, or restrictions of Amazon's default interface.
You can start books directly, open jailbroken apps, and customize what shows up on your home screen.
Nothing fancy, just the essentials - designed to make your Kindle feel like *your* device again.

## Goals
- Provide a clean and minimal interface focused on reading.
- Launch books and sideloaded apps quickly without background bloat.
- Stay lightweight and compatible with older Kindles.
- Keep the project open, hackable, and easy to extend.

## Why
The stock Kindle UI is slow, closed, and built around Amazon services.
After jailbreaking, there's still no good alternative home screen - most tools feel outdated or too complex.
Nomi exists to fill that gap with something small, modern, and open.

## Status
Right now, Nomi is in early development.
Expect experiments, rough edges, and probably a few crashes before it becomes stable.
Contributions, ideas, and testing are welcome.
